Hearing Loss

Sculpture cast in Bees Wax, Soy wax, Plaster, Cotton

Hearing Loss is an ongoing project where I am contemplating the role, form and figure of the ear in relation to hearing and listening, and the associated valuation and deterioration of listening in contemporary life. Through these works I am interested in the symbolic and physiological form of the ear and what it represents. Contemporary life demands a lot from the ear: capitalism is always asking us to do something, so what should we listen to? Hearing and listening are precious acts of the ear that are compromised by these demands.
