Charcoal & Pastel on Paper

A triptyque exploring my mothers journey coming to the UK to train as an NHS nurse. The first drawing shows her dressed in a traditional Filipino terno for her 18th birthday, the second of her during her time training for the NHS in Surrey. To the final drawing where she is cradling the next generation in her arms to complete the triptyque. The final drawing is of particular significance as immigrants to the UK do so at often great sacrifice for a better life not only for the families they have left behind, but for future generations; and this is even more poignant in a family based society like the Philippines.
